PM comes under fire as he announces major shift on green policies

Rishi Sunak has come under fire today (21/09/2023) by opposing parties following his announcement yesterday on pushing back the deadline on some of its green policies.

Co-leader of the Green Party Carla Denyer said she “felt sick” when she heard the proposals, and said they would “harm our ability as a country to reach net zero”, harming “the economy and the well-being of its citizens”.

Although car maker Ford already stated yesterday that moving the date would undermine business certainty, Jaguar Land Rover welcomed the shift today calling it “pragmatic” and said it brings the UK in line with other nations.

Jaguar Land Rover said it remained committed to be fully net zero by 2039 and is looking forward to “building the much needed infrastructure” to help people move to an “exciting electric future”.

Labour MP Ed Miliband countered the Governments push back on banning the production of new petrol and diesel cars from 2030 to 2035 by confirming that they would bring back the 2030 ban date, stating that the delay will “add billions in costs to families”.

Rishi Sunak countered all of the criticism stating on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme “I believe in net zero and I want to deliver it”.

The UK government still plan to reach net zero status by 2050.

Say 'No' to cold calling on business energy

Unfortunately, business electricity and business gas customers in the UK are bombarded with unsolicited cold calls on a daily basis.

This unscrupulous approach does not offer the business energy customer an impartial view on the market and the price offered is more often 20-30% above the current retail price for electricity or gas.

At Energy Advice Line we strongly advise customers to not accept these offers and follow our simple steps to ensure that they are not locked into an uncompetitive contract.

Join our cold calling campaign here, and spread the word to say 'no' to cold calling on business energy!
